In/Side by Robert Battle
So thankful to have seen this piece, thankful for the music, the artists at Alvin Ailey, Spoleto and everything.. it was a beautiful experience.
Performing a dance like this feels like the ultimate in the arts for me.. it can be silent, visual poetry of humanity that uses, witnesses and expresses the body and the spirit, things both intangible and tangible, and I admire people who can create and communicate in this incredible way. It’s human, personal, and accessible. The culmination of these energies in the performing arts is not something you can own or collect in your hand — the experiences and immaterial are what matters, much like the strongest and most valuable things in life.
